Catching up - My kind of weekend

Whoops! We're a little saggy here!

We started and ended this 4 day week end with parties! What could be better than that? Friday we celebrated Mom's 89th birthday. Amy and George hosted. We had another wonderful dinner cooked by George, using The Egg! We also celebrated my favorite DIL Kim's, and Joey's girlfriends birthdays. Then, on Memorial Day, we celebrated 3 more birthday's and Cindy's house with a great cook out and lots of fun people! Sean, Rina, and Julianna all have May birthdays, too. What a month!!

Bob and I walked in the Memorial Day parade with our church Green Team. Actually, we organized the group, schlepped stuff to and from the parade and 'worked' the Clutter Bug for the whole length of the parade! It takes 3 people for the Clutter Bug to be effective, ideally, they should be similar in size. The head of our Clutter Bug was Joshua, Rick and Linda's 8 year old grandson. Bob, who is over 6' was in the middle, and I brought up the rear, trying to keep the sides from blowing around in the wind. Someone said that it looked more like the Clutter Camel!

Clutter Bug again . . .

I finished the Clutter Bug today - the parade is tomorrow, and Joey said "You should put some streamers in the front, like flames." I told him we'd save that for the next parade, but I think it's a great idea. He may always be a WIP (work in progress for non-crafters and others with lots of pending projects). I couldn't resist showing two pictures. The close up shows the eye balls (Rick's ping pong balls).

Retiring Church Clerk

Well, I just finished transcribing my minutes for the Church's Annual Meeting last Sunday, and I signed it 'Retiring Church Clerk'. Phew! It feels good to be on to something else. This was my second go-around as Church Clerk and was 5 terms, I think. It's not a hard job, and I do like to be 'involved' and know what's going on, but . . . I want to do some other things.

Bob and I are interested in the Green Team Ministry, and the things they are doing. Under the leadership of Jim Winfield, our Music Director, they have saved the church a lot of $$ in utility bills, and are working on other ideas.
We are going to put together an entry for the St. Patrick's Day parade and I am making a 'Clutter Bug' in the nature of a Chinese Dragon. I wanted to take a picture of all the parts I assembled before putting them together, but I forgot. Oh well. If you want to visualize it, there's a round plastic laundry basket, 2 plastic containers with lids, a child's megaphone, 2 dusters(?) on sticks, several chenille stems and some orange ping pong balls donated by Pastor Rick. He's a ping pong champion among other things! I also bought navy and green tulle, and nine yards of green print 'floaty' fabric for .50 a yard. Joey drilled holes in the container lids and megaphone for me. The rest remains to be seen!

Chinese Dragons and other things I've gotten myself into

I can't believe I did it again! Went and volunteered to 'do something'. This time, it's a Chinese Dragon like costume for 6 to 8 adults to wear for our local St. Patrick's Day parade! Actually, it's going to be a 'Clutter-Bug', made from recyclables, 'worn' by members of our church's Green Team. Others are going to collect empty water bottles and similar stuff along the parade route. I'm doing green hats and bow-ties for them with First Congregational Church Green Team, and our Tree of Life logo on them. Good ideas - but lots of work. The good news is that it seems we CAN get into the parade. Originally we were told there's a waiting list. Maybe they like the idea, too.
